The Carnival week has just concluded in Antigua. Although this is a secular event these days, and with an emphasis on enjoyment and celebration, it is also a time when the crime rate goes up, and many people suffer the consequences of excessive drinking etc. Pray too for the people of Antigua’s sister island of Barbuda that was devastated last year by hurricane Irma. Many people are still homeless and the recovery period is slow and problematic.
