North Korea Students

Lewis and Elsbeth Codington are based in Seoul, South Korea, but with a desire to reach out to North Koreans living in the South.

The North Koreans are often disorientated and marginalised in South Korea, and many struggle as a result. Even the Korean language is different – in the South many western words have been incorporated.

Lewis and Elsbeth have been able to start Bible study with some North Korean students. The Bible they use is bilingual – English and a North Korean version originally commissioned by Kim Il Sung (the first North Korea dictator).  The students find this version of the Bible more accessible. It underlines the need for people to read the Bible in their mother tongue.
