Voluntary Accounts administrator

CLC International Office has a vacancy for a volunteer accounts administrator based at our office in Sheffield.

Ideal candidates will have experience of day-to-day accounting, be computer literate, particularly with a good working level of Microsoft Office applications, be well organised, methodical and capable of working to deadlines, have strong administration skills with good attention to detail and be able to work well with other CLC teams.

CLC is a charity and international organisation committed to the distribution of the Bible, Christian books and a variety of Christian media. The International Office supports its work worldwide. Our mission is to bring glory to God by making Christian literature available to people of all nations so that they may come to faith and maturity in the Lord Jesus Christ.

CLC IO is an umbrella body for the 47 national CLC teams.

Overall Purpose of Job:

  • Maintain up-to-date accounting records
  • Prepare end of year financial information for the trustees and the auditor
  • Liaise with CLC personnel both in the UK and abroad with respect to accounting matters.
  • Ensure that legal requirements for Charity finances are met

Key Tasks:

  • Liaising with the Office Manager to ensure the oversight of the finances of CLC International Office
  • Maintaining accurate, complete and up-to date accounting records on Quickbooks 
  • Balancing UK and US bank accounts by reconciling entries
  • Maintaining historical records by filing documents
  • Invoicing CLC International Contributions and assisting in their recovery.
  • Preparing financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends.
  • Complying with charity legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Sending and receiving international money transfers
  • Overseeing utility contracts, office insurance and Council Tax

Core Skills:

  • Experience of day-to-day accounting
  • Computer literate, particularly with good working level of Microsoft Office applications
  • Well organised, methodical and capable of working to deadlines
  • Strong administration skills with good attention to detail
  • Able to work well with other CLC teams
GOR: As the post-holder will have an important role in the administration of the Charity, this role carries a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) for the position to be filled by a committed Christian. 
Time commitment: This should be a 1-2 day a week commitment and much of the work can be done from home, after an initial training period.
